MANILA, (October 8, 2008) – Active Learning today announced that its Java training curriculum is now recognized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). As an accredited institution, Active Learning now offers its Java courses as part of the PGMA Train-For-Work Scholarship Project. The PGMA-TWSP program was established by TESDA in 2006 to increase the intake of skilled software developers.
Individuals who would like to take part in the program will have to undergo Active Learning’s assessment exam to determine if the individual is qualified to avail of the PGMA scholarship. Successful candidates will then go through Active Learning’s Java training program. Qualified scholars are also automatically entitled to take part in Active Learning’s Enrollment to Employment Program (ALEEP). Through the program, successful graduates will be hired by companies belonging to Active Learning’s client network as well as members of the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA).
“We’re very happy with this development. This is an opportunity for us to help the software industry acquire the much needed Java talent that it sorely lacks. It also gives individuals who are passionate in writing software the jump start they need to begin a promising and lucrative career in Java development.” said Gavin Lim, Training Director of Active Learning.
Companies can also take advantage of the program in several ways. Organizations needing trained Java developers only need to register in the program to be constantly informed of new graduates of the course. Members of the PSIA can also use ALEEP to train near-hires, which they commit to hire after completion of the program.
